Coal Tits

I’m getting used to seeing some different birds near me here, thanks to the proliferation of large, mature trees bordering the Cuckoo Trail. I’ve never really observed Coal Tits before, but they have been in the garden and I have seen them occasionally as I walk the dogs. This afternoon I watched a pair, sometimes three, chasing and diving among the branches. Territorial? Seems a bit odd given the time of year but maybe the weather has confused everyone. Forgive the awful zoomed-in iPhone footage!

Coal Tits only feature in my Birds of Wilderness Wood custom publication, but they are chirpy little birds, and if I ever do a Birds of the Cuckoo Trail, they would have to be in there. I sold my original painting of a Coal Tit quite a while ago but here it is:
