Rye Harbour Visit

Time for another visit to Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, a little later in the season. I didn’t spot any Avocets, but there were Redshanks and Black-headed Gulls, and lots of Curlew sounding out across the marshland. Little Egrets, pipits (?), and a little gaggle of juvenile House Sparrows. There was great excitement as a dozen or so seals lying out on the sand over on the Camber side.

We stopped at the Lime Kiln Cafe for some coffee and took in the view. It’s a great vista across the different lagoons; Starlings were gathering, and House Martins circling and burbling, with gulls cruising overhead. I ticked 9 species off in my logbook which was great – considering I forgot my binoculars…
