Blinktober Day Two

Blinktober

Today’s prompt is RELIC, which in turn prompted my daughter to say “are you going to do a self portrait then?” which naturally did not in the least surprise me. Anyway: I had a look on the British Museum website and chose a little 14C reliquary bag, or at least the plaque from it.

I love medieval history, and the workmanship of the artefacts always astounds me. For this drawing, I used my dip pen and Old Golden Green Rohrer & Klinger ink, which seemed appropriate even though it bears no reflection whatsoever on colours of the reliquary bag itself. In my fountain pen I have been using the ink I bought in Strasbourg which is a bright emerald green (Métroien) so it was nice to have something a little more muted. I was going to try some sort of gothic script or illuminated lettering but I didn’t have time. I’m sure I will have an opportunity to do some nice letters with another prompt.
