my birdwatching logbook pen pal
I have been looking for a small pen to take out with me on walks so that I can fill in my birdwatching logbook, or write notes as I think of stuff. I hate hate hate writing thoughts and ideas on my phone so having some sort of writing implement is necessary. I’ve tried pencils, but if the lead breaks while rattling around in my bag, or {horrors} it’s blunt, then I’m a bit stuck. I’m not a fan of fineliners, and while I see the appeal of biros or ballpoints, they don’t really align with my desire to administer self-care in the form of having lovely things in my life.
I’ve ben flirting with the idea of a Tom’s Studio pen for some time, and I decided to take the plunge and get myself a Wren pen. I chose the Write Off version in a midnight blue, and I must say, it has worked really well as a companion to my pocketbooks.
It came with a dark blue ink which is perfect for most applications, although it doesn’t seem to be water soluble. It has a fine nib, which I love, and it is very pleasant to use for both writing and sketching. I’ve not tried it “in the field” as I’m currently having to walk my two dogs separately; the pup needs much more attention and besides, the Cuckoo Trail is very busy during the summer holidays. Hopefully soon I will be able to take my binoculars out and do some proper birdwatching as I have missed my quiet time in nature of a morning.
