Getting back on the [sea] horse

After all my sea creature drawings from a few days ago, it was nice to join in this session with Wild Life Drawing, who introduced Neil, the founder of The Seahorse Trust to give a presentation and answer our questions while we drew from his fantastic reference images. My iPad was feeling its age (it’s about 15 and still on iOS 12 or something) and was only prepared to download one of the photos, so that’s the one I drew. I was spending the evening at my friend’s house so just had my essential art supplies which was fine, as I had intended to sketch the seahorses in pencil, but following the tech issues, I used my Pilot parallel pen to draw the headshot from the resources.

I didn’t have any white gouache with me for the spots, but my friend was decorating his hallway in Antique Cream while I was on the Zoom, so I made do with some of that.

I hope you can read my writing – do have a look at the website as there are lots of resources on there for divers and educators.
