finished illustrations

I have now completed all the illustrations for the Birds of the Mogollon Wildway birdwatching logbook. I had to redo on for two as I realised I had the wrong colourway (oops, guess it ought to be colorway) for that part of the US, but I think they are all ok now. Here is the Pygmy Nuthatch I Had to repaint, and the finished jpg ready for uploading in to the book, and the completed centre pages:

Now comes the text for each bird. I have been watching some birding videos on YouTube, and reading up about the species on the excellent Cornell Lab website, but I also got myself a copy of the Reader’s Digest Book of North American Birds which has some lovely narratives, and will give me some useful snippets of information to follow up. Plus it was only £3.50 from World of Books! I have the British Birds version and some of the illustrations are the same, but I like how the book is set out as a lot of them have the bird in colour and the peripheral contextual stuff in line/monochrome so as not to detract from the bird. I had some leftover paint so decided to recreate a couple in my sketchbook, adding pencil for the branches which was really fun.
