About Me

Hello, and welcome to my blog and website.

I am a lifelong birdwatcher, and have been illustrating birds since 2016. My son had given me a set of gouache paints for my birthday, and I didn’t really know what to do with them so I tried painting my favourite birds. The rest, as they say, is history.

I developed the Birdwatching Logbooks during the Covid pandemic, using InDesign and a local commercial printer, and since then have gone on to produce 17 titles. I have over 60 retail stockists across the UK, and have painted over 250 birds.

I keep an illustration sketchbook as I work here in my studio in Sussex, and I also paint commissions, and run drawing workshops based around nature and wildlife.

Sometimes I can’t quite believe I have created my very own birdwatching booklets…

Things have moved on a little since I made my first bird book, aged 6, but I still feel the same sense of achievement, even if the outcome is considerably more polished. And I keep to the correct number of limbs…

I love designing and putting the logbooks together, and it gives me great pleasure to think that my artwork is encouraging people to get to know the birds around them.

With their sturdy covers and rounded corners, they are the perfect pocket guide to introducing the characters with whom we share our space.

Working with organisations who champion wildlife or retailers who are promoting nature in their local area is a wonderful validation of my work.

As well as producing my own series of 13 birdwatching logbooks for retail, I have worked with developers, rewilding organisations, and wildlife charities.

Now that we’re friends…
