from Ellington Pens

Well this was a nice surprise. I received a fountain pen from Ellington Pens to try, and I must say, it’s really nice to use. I normally buy Parker pens, and I have some Pilot Parallel pens which are technically for calligraphy, but I like using them for drawing. I like using an ink pen for sketching as it’s good to commit to marks, and I don’t really like fineliners apart from making a nice crisp outline. Using an ink pen also allows for some feathering of the lines to add some shading or softening, which works well when thinking through ideas.
The Ellington pen came with my choice of a fine nib, and although it came with 3 cartridges, I chose to use the refillable cartridge (which was in the pen already) with my red Parker Quink ink. I used it to write on a number of different surfaces and it flows really nicely, and feels smooth to both hold, and when writing. I’m looking forward to using it both in my journal and my sketchbook. By the way, the logbooks have ink-pen-friendly paper, if that’s you’re preferred writing implement, plus the pages take a light wash if you want to tinker with your sketches in terms of back pages.

I have an affiliate link here, if you’d like 20% off your purchase of an Ellington fountain pen. Perfect if you want to get ahead with your Christmas shopping, or fancy a little treat yourself. Why not team it with a birdwatching logbook for a classy combo for the birdlover in your life?
