some sketchbook love

I’ve been working on business-y type things a lot recently, and although I have been doing plenty of illustrating, I have neglected my sketchbook…

So, with this in mind, I galloped through my admin this morning, and then settled down to some time drawing some random things purely for pleasure. I had started a pencil sketch of an elephant yesterday evening at my friend’s house (from a photo; he doesn’t own any pachyderms sadly) and then started drawing some random reference images to use up some of the colours on my palette. I am really trying to get away from using online resources as I end up spending soooo long staring at a screen, so I am going to try and work more from physical photos and illustrations. I have some old calendars and picture books, although I find myself trying to zoom in using thumb and forefinger, and have to stop myself tapping them. Ridiculous how our lives have changed – but that’s for another blog post.

Here is my work from this morning. I’m very nearly halfway through this sketchbook.
