collage ideas

for the birdwatching logbooks

I have had great fun devising different motifs to use for my promotional collages. Thinking up some really British motifs that also chimed with the logbook in question really made me focus on brand identity and all those grown-up things that I’m meant to be considering as a creative business owner.

Here are the images I made for Forest & Farmland, Urban Garden & Parkland, and Pond & River Birds. I’ll leave you to work out which ones I used for which title!

I have been thinking about getting the logbooks in front of more people, and as such had a really helpful chat with Jemima who commissioned me for the Greenwich Peninsula project. She made a number of helpful suggestions, and I’m putting together a plan as to how I can execute the various ideas from our discussion. Suffice to say that sadly making little illustrations isn’t at the top of the list but I am going to make some for Town & Country Garden Birds as I haven’t made any promo material for those, even though it is the only one I have actually got out on the shelves in its new garb; the others still have some old stock to work through. So far for this title I have:

  • teapot and teacups
  • Robin
  • bird table
  • bird nestbox
  • ivy
  • garden lounger
  • dandelion
  • Barn Swallow
  • pillar box

Can you think of anything else/better to represent a town or country garden? Maybe a hedgehog? πŸ¦”
