Blogtober Day 12

I wanted to do something autumnal and/or spooky for today’s post but although the weather has been wonderfully seasonal with a cool breeze and some torrential rain at times, I have been pottering about doing slightly chores-y stuff so haven’t managed to do any sketchbook stuff. I did, however, make some delicious pumpkin spice muffins which I arranged beautifully on a plate with my pumpkin mug next to it, then realised my phone was upstairs on charge so the photo op was missed as I then had to hide the muffins from the cat.

I did do some art though. We have a rather ordinary white cupboard in our dining room which holds cutlery, glasses, candles, Christmas things, random stuff that doesn’t really have a home, and I wanted to use up some leftover paint and give it a new look. I can’t quite decide whether working at Charleston Farmhouse, fabulously decorated home of the Bloomsbury group, is really good or really dangerous with regard to my own decorating. The giraffe in my bathroom probably gives a good answer, but anyway, back to the cupboard.

I started with painting it red, then used a roll of sellotape to give me some round circles. These were a bit wonky so I moved on from that and just used my paintbrush with different leftovers and tester pots to make some blobs over the doors:

I painted the knobs in the orange, then decided they’d look better in the pale pink, so they have a kind of tie-dyed look. I’ll put them on tomorrow when the paint has dried a little more.
