Along with many artists, I am feeling disillusioned with social media and the pesky algorithms (looking at you, Meta) so I have decided to participate in Blogmas this year as I thoroughly enjoy both writing and reading longform posts, and I have worked hard on my website so want to celebrate it.
This is my list, in no particular order:
- Describe 2023 in review
- What I am currently working on (I have an exciting new project…)
- Why I use the medium I do for my artwork
- Studio tour
- Sketch with me vlog – possibly at Lewes, or the De La Warr Pavilion
- Christmas gift guide for creatives
- Favourite bird to paint, and why
- Least favourite bird to paint, and why
- Winter birds
- What keeps me feeling inspired and creative
- How I maintain a work-life balance as a freelancer
- Trying a medium I’ve always wanted to master
- Sketchbook tour
- Looking ahead to 2024
- Why I make art
- My favourite artist and why
- Charleston at Christmas
- Winter artwork
- American birds
- How I learn new techniques
- Drawing winter landscapes
- My favourite art books
- Sketchbook inspiration moodboard
- How I organise my workspace
Hopefully I will get most of these done! I’m looking forward to reading other posts and if you hack any recommendations for other blogs, or if you are taking part in Blogmas, do let me know.

what on earth is blogmas? Looks like a post a day… not sure I would manage a long one each day. Good luck. I agree not sure where all the social media really takes us and who reads.

Yes – I have done it in the past, although I don’t always manage every day, but it’s a good discipline and encourages me to write some different things 🙂

I am tempted but also have to attempt promoting my book.
