a trout and a salmon

It’s always lovely to see my artwork in situ, rather than pinned up with bulldog clips on my pegboard among the glue and tubes of paint. The leaping salmon I painted for my friend is now hanging across from the leaping Brown Trout, and looks great against the Little Greene wallpaper:

I now have a dedicated page for my fish paintings here; I realise there are some non-fish but it gets a bit clumsy to try and work out how to group them, taxonomically speaking. Swimming things? Fish-and-fish-adjacent water creatures? They are all nekton technically, but I’m not sure that’s a well-known term among the general population. Nekton is any aquatic organism that can propel itself, as opposed to plankton which drifts on the currents. Ok, so my nekton collection it is…
