ink ponies

for my daughter

My middle child/eldest daughter is redecorating, and wants some artwork for Christmas so that she can play around with wall art without buying fake prints, or spending a fortune. I offered to add some random things to the pack with her boyfriend’s painting of a salmon as her present. With this in mind, I dug out some of my Lino prints and a few other pieces not by me that I have never gotten around to doing anything with.

I did want to try some ink horses though, as I thought some line work art might be nice for her to have too. I decided to use the Draw 50 Horses book, and chose the rearing portrait and a galloping horse as the subjects. I wanted to use a dip pen to generate some movement and randomness so I went over my 2H pencil lines with some Indian Red calligraphy ink and my medium dip pen nib.

Here they are:

I think they look pretty good, and I just love spattering ink all over them once they’re done. I’m not going to rub out the pencil marks as I quite like the look.

What do you think?
