…and a catch up
Just to let you know that I have a new sketchbook tour up in my channel, which is a look through the first half of my Leuchtturm sketchbook.
Now you, dear readers, will have seen most of the content already but if you’d like to see the sketches all together, then you can watch it here.
I am in a bit of a creative slump at the moment, possibly because I am away for a few days next week, and that’s a bit distracting and makes me feel a bit reluctant to focus on anything. I also have a couple of projects on the go which are not logbook-related, and those seem to take up a lot more headspace than when I’m in my comfort zone. I find it so easy to get bound up in perfectionism which then literally makes me grind to a halt, so I end up with lots of half-hearted attempts, and a feeling of being unable to commit to any one direction. I’m working on the poster I mentioned in a previous post, the subject of which I’ve now swapped from hedges to horses. There is method in that madness but I’m feeling very indecisive and unsure, and can’t seem to settle on what I want to communicate. The other project is a commission for a friend and again, I am paralysed with choice! On another note, I have been chosen as a freelance workshop provider with a new community engagement organisation around nature and conservation, which is based a little further east in the county but still a manageable distance should I get asked to lead a session. And of course there’s the admin around the birdwatching logbook side of things which I personally enjoy, but it can be a bit like herding cats at times!
I have got one exciting inky thing happening though, which I will share once I’m back from France. I’ll leave you with a photo I took in Strasbourg last year; my son tells me the gingko trees are once again showing their glorious autumn colours!
