bats and ghosts

Finally – a vaguely blogtober-ish post!

I’ve been struggling with mild yet persistent migraine symptoms for the past few days so I don’t feel that I’ve achieved much as it takes a fair amount of focus to remain upright and functioning, but I have been endeavouring to do some Inktobers with Sketchbook Skool and birds of prey (see below). As a craft activity with my daughters, we made bats from black card, and ghosts from white yarn. My eldest daughter has realised the practicality of decorations which can be stored flat, and as both my younger daughter and I live in small spaces, this suits us too. My little studio corner has become wonderfully spooky, especially when lit from underneath:

Aren’t they great?

I need to catch up a bit tomorrow as I’ve got a few more Tawny Owls to draw from yesterday, and a Marsh Harrier from today. Inktober has been tricky as my mind goes totally blank when faced with the prompt, but I have done some other inky drawings from a photo shoot with horses in Condé Nast mag:
