with a Goldfinch

I painted another Goldfinch yesterday as the one I have been using is from my first iteration of my gouache birds from 2016 – amazing to think I have been painting these birds for nearly 10 years. I don’t think my style has changed much really but now I have access to Adobe, and now that I use my artwork purely for use in the birdwatching logbooks, I have to be more careful about the white bits as this was something I used to play around with a lot, but it doesn’t really work in the booklets as the images are so small.

As with yesterday’s Turtle Dove, I am experimenting with some different backgrounds and chose a hot pink for this one – my studio space is painted in Little Greene’s Mischief which I absolutely love, and the lime-green leaves show up nicely.
