Soho Life Drawing
I used to pop up to London regularly to help run a life drawing class with Ann, a professional artist who founded the class. I don’t go up much these days but I like to help when I can, and it’s a nice familiar setting.
Dwayne was modelling for the 2 hour session, and as a dancer and artist themself, proved to be a fantastic subject to draw. Dancers tend to have beautifully fine musculature, and their poses have a grace and poise – and if they themselves are artists, they understand what makes an interesting position to draw so it was great to have the chance to sketch them.
Here are some of my sketches from the evening:

I used my Blackwing pencil, my Pilot Parallel fountain pen with red ink, my grey fineliner and a 2H pencil, in my Venezia sketchbook.
It was fun to be back, and I’m in London again for some urban sketching on Saturday near St Paul’s and the City. My daughter is thrilled at the chance for some extra dog-sitting, and is taking Ned out to lunch with her friends so he’ll have a great time too!
