work in progress

I’ve been working on my website today, so expect to see some changes over the next few days of Blogtober! I find walking is a great way to loosen up the mind and think of new ways forward, and it was such a beautiful autumn day today I ended up going out at both dawn and dusk. I wear a red head torch so I don’t disturb any animals with a bright light, or compromise my night vision, or get moths flying into my face so it’s quite calming. I keep my dog on a lead just in case a fox, deer, or badger runs out but it’s nice and quiet on the converted railway when it’s dark, and I feel safe with the dog, until he stares into the gloom or makes a little woof at something beyond my sight, at which point I feel my neck prickle and my shoulders give a shiver. I know most of the other dog-walkers who are out after dark, and there is the occasional runner, although some of them have outfits with lots of little flashes of reflective material meaning they look a bit like a Christmas tree running towards me but I’m used to that now.

Meanwhile, I have been illustrating some more birds for my logbooks. I’m re-doing some for my original titles, and working on a submission so need some new ones. I’m doing a mixture of British and American birds at the moment so it’s keeping me on my toes.

Here they are, drying off before I gather them up and put them somewhere safe, away from splashes and the cat.

Time to rest my poor eyes! πŸ‘€
