I feel a bit in limbo at the moment as I’m waiting for more instructions from the American project, and although I’ve painted a few more birds, I don’t want to commit too much to paint to paper until I’ve had the official go-ahead. I’m still really enjoying my volunteer stewarding at Charleston Farmhouse – you can read about that over here. It seems very quiet during the winter so it’s nice to chat to the other volunteers and hear their stories.
I think I will have a go at the Flying Foxes with Wild Life Drawing as although I have done this class before, Protect Paradise in the Seychelles is a wonderful charity and it’ll be good to see if all the sketching practise I have been doing over the past few months has improved my skills at capturing these energetic bats on paper! There’s also a nice class on the Moon which I am going to do with my mum as a birthday present.
I have done some more sketching and a few online tutorials. I follow along with Ann’s brilliant tutorials over on the SLD YouTube channel where there are all sorts of fun drawing and painting projects, including this sunset and a sunflower:

Soho Life Drawing also ran a ‘Drawing Humans for Humanity’ Zoom class which was fun, with all the proceeds donated to the International Red Cross. I so enjoy these fundraisers as it’s great practise and a lovely way to donate to a good cause.

Ann mainly uses watercolour although I always end up having a go with gouache as I like to experiment and I’m not terribly bothered by the outcome! I am getting quite near the end of my large Fabriano sketchbook so I will be filming a tour of that soon.
