I had a few errands to run yesterday, including taking some more Birds of Rye Harbour to Rother Books in Battle, and I then went on to meet my friend Paul at Rye Harbour. The shop is getting really well stocked now, including some lovely items from illustrator Kate Broughton, who has a similar (though more polished!) style to mine.
It was a bit of a gloomy day at the Reserve but we walked up to the hut to see what we could see. From the Gooders hide we saw a couple of Shelducks although they were too far away to see if they were a pair, despite my binoculars. Lots of Lapwing, Oystercatchers, Redshank and Wigeon, as well as a few Little Egrets dotted around. The tide was really far out, showing the vast expanse of beach across the river at Camber.

Shelducks are such beautiful birds, and here is my illustration, alongside its book counterpart:

Many of my illustrations are for sale – do have a look at my gallery for more information.
